Key Stage 1 +Â 2 Tutoring
£25 per hour
All primary school sessions are very interactive and varied in content and structure. Sensory or artistic materials are often incorporated to elicit full participation from the students. I truly believe that learning can be really fun once we find the method that works best for us; so, I take my time to get to know each student on an individual basis and to tailor every lesson specifically to them. I take great pride in being able to boost the confidence of my students, and to inspire them in independently pursuing academic knowledge and skills.
I teach all subjects at primary school level, from phonics to SATs preparation.
English for 11+, 13+, Exam Prep
£35 per hour
Entry exams are not suited for everyone; they are very particular in their requirements and do not suit all learning styles. An initial session will be held to see if the entry exam is a reasonable prospect for your child and I will only proceed with sessions if their passing of the exam is feasible. Sessions will then alternate between practice papers, developing techniques for these papers, and critical study of recommended texts.
A termly reading list will be provided and students will be expected to read and study these texts in depth.

In order to succeed in these exams, it is necessary for students to put in a lot of time and effort. This suits some students but can actually deter others from enjoying their education, so please consider the effects carefully before proceeding.

Key Stage 3 - English/History
£35 per hour
Years 7-9 has the potential to be an exciting period of academic development for students. However, it is easy to fall behind in the quick transition between primary and secondary school; this can lead to a lack of confidence, unwillingness to engage, and a resentment of the education system.

I will support students through this time by:
- helping them develop key study skills that they can use independently,
- fostering an academic confidence so that they are aware of their own abilities,
- ensuring they not only catch up in school, but also keep up!

GCSE - English/History
£35 per hour
As a Qualified Exam Assessor, I do literally know what the examiners want and this is something I will ensure all of my students know. I teach not just the content but also the 'how to' for academic exams and writing - these skills will continue to aid students in college/sixth form and any further study.
The texts that are studied in English can be so much fun. The periods of history that are taught at GCSE are so relevant to contemporary society. Consequently, it is hugely important to me that my students are able to maintain a love of learning and do not lose interest in the topics at hand due to the pressure of exams.
Learning can be great fun, and when it is students will engage and succeed!

A-Level - English/History
£40 per hour
The step from GCSE to A-Level can be a big one. The expectations placed on students differs significantly - and this is with the added pressure of university applications and developing social lives.
I will help alleviate this stress by assisting students in developing sound subject knowledge in English or History. Core knowledge will be supplemented by reading recommendations which will help their work stand out.
I can additionally provide advice on personal statements and university applications.

Copy-Editing
£1.75 per 100 words
As a PhD researcher and Exam Assessor, I have been able to hone my writing abilities. I have been editing academic writing for several years but also have experience in:
- editing translations into English,
- editing business writing or marketing materials,
- editing personal statements,
- editing fiction.

All feedback is provided in track changes. Punctuation, spelling and syntax errors will be corrected in text with larger suggestions provided in comments.

I am punctual and will not accept work unless I am able to meet the deadline. Post-edit, I am available to answer questions or clarify any uncertainties.
